#Thanks for applying to join MUDSA

Your application will be dealt with ASAP but there will be an inevitable delay, because…

In recent years we have been forced to introduce a ‘vetting’ process which helps us to identify spurious applications. The reason for this has its roots in the Player Exit area — the part of the Old Trafford stadium where the team leave after the games. Fans congregate there in hope of the opportunity to have their photos taken and to collect autographs.

Because of the size of the crowds, the club introduced a ‘disabled safe area’ and we became aware that rumours were spreading that all you need to get in the ‘safe area’ was a MUDSA Membership Card. Subsequently, our membership applications went through the roof and we were forced to check all applications for authenticity and cancel the membership card scheme.

Now, we only accept members who:

  • Are also members of Manchester United, and;
  • Are registered disabled WITH Manchester United, by means of proof of a requirement* to use Old Trafford’s disabled facilities,
    *To be eligible to use the disabled facilities at Old Trafford you must have already joined Manchester United and supplied one of the following as evidence of your disability (updated Nov 23):

    • A statement of higher rate mobility or higher rate care component Disability Living Allowance (DLA) – dated within 12 months
    • Personal Independence Payment (PIP) Standard or Enhanced rate Mobility component, or Enhanced rate Daily Living component – dated within 12 months
    • Registration document which certifies that you are Registered Blind or Partially Sighted
    • A personal letter outlining your access requirements from your hospital specialist – dated within the last 3 months

OR

  • You are a carer/PA for a person who fits the above criteria

Furthermore, in October 2023, with the backing of MUDSA, Manchester United introduced a six-game trial balloting system to allow access to the safe area in a controlled manner.
