About MUDSA
The Manchester United Disabled Supporters’ Association (MUDSA) is a pioneering supporter-led organisation dedicated to improving the matchday experience and wider football participation for disabled supporters of Manchester United.
Established in 1989, MUDSA holds the distinction of being the oldest Disabled Football Supporters’ Association in the world, built by fans for fans.
Our Mission
At MUDSA, we strive to:
- Champion the rights and experiences of disabled Manchester United supporters, ensuring they have equal access to football culture and matchday venues.
- Collaborate with Manchester United Football Club to improve facilities, accessibility, and organisational support for disabled fans.
- Build community and social connections among disabled supporters and their carers through events and shared experiences.
Our History
MUDSA began as a grassroots community of passionate Manchester United supporters determined to improve access and facilities for disabled fans. From humble beginnings in the late 1980s, the Association has grown into a respected and influential voice in both the football community and wider disability-support landscape.
Over the decades, MUDSA has campaigned for enhanced matchday provisions, helped shape accessible fan travel, and supported the development of dedicated spaces such as The Ability Suite — recognised as a leading facility for disabled supporters.
What We Do
- Accessibility Advocacy: Working with Manchester United FC to shape and improve accessibility planning and provisions at Old Trafford and related venues.
- Supporter Community and Events: Organising social events, annual dinners, and group travel to matchdays and major finals, including historic charter flights for disabled supporters.
- Travel and Matchday Assistance: Helping members travel to fixtures and ensuring they enjoy supportive environments with appropriate facilities.
- Collaborations: Partnering with national inclusion campaigns, clubs, and support organisations to champion good practice and disability inclusion in football.
Our People
MUDSA is run by a dedicated committee of volunteers — many of them long-standing supporters — who bring first-hand insight into what matters most to our members. Our honorary patrons and supporters include respected figures like Sir Alex Ferguson CBE, Phil Downs MBE, and David Gill — championing the cause of accessibility and inclusion at the highest levels.
