Manchester United has clarified an important part of the rules around eligibility to apply for domestic league away tickets, particularly where a supporter loses eligibility because they have not purchased a required home cup ticket.
The key point is that away eligibility does not automatically reset at the beginning of a new season.
Eligible supporters must hold a Silver Season Ticket — having completed three consecutive full seasons as a Season Ticket holder and renewed for a fourth season or beyond — and must also meet the Club’s home cup ticket requirements.
If a supporter fails to purchase a required home cup ticket, they lose their eligibility to apply for league away games. That ineligibility then carries into the following season.
Eligibility can be restored in the next season, but only in the days after a home cup game for which the supporter has purchased a ticket has been played.
The supporter does not have to physically attend that cup game for this purpose. However, eligibility cannot be restored before the fixture has taken place because a purchased ticket could subsequently be listed for resale.
