Please join us in welcoming our two new committee members. Our recent recruitment for a Membership and Communications officer had an extremely high number of strong candidates and after interviewing a shortlist we came to the conclusion we couldn’t choose between the two so have decided to appoint both. We feel they both bring a set of individual skills that will benefit MUDSA as we look to engage more with our members and ensure communication is improved.
We have David “Woody” Wood (Left and centre photos) who says
“I’m Dave Wood, better known as Woody and it goes without saying I am a diehard Red Devil, so much so that my middle initials are MUFC – feel free to ask me what they stand for, it isn’t what you think!!
For as long as I have memories I have been a Manchester United fan, I obviously don’t remember it but my mum wouldn’t buy a buggy for me until she found a Maclaren red and white one back in the late 70s! I remember going to games in the 80s and as I grew up Robbo was my hero and I was very privileged to have met him a number of times as I went on my childhood cancer journey. One of the most defining moments of my early United life was being at the City Ground, Nottingham when Mark Robbins scored “the goal that saved Fergie’s career”!
Players have obviously come and gone but I still love Cantona and Scholes and in our current squad my favourite player is Amad Diallo. Im a season ticket holder up at the top of the Stretford End and I love it, the view is like playing FIFA, I also love to travel to other grounds following the reds. I have a love for watching F1, cricket, golf and the NFL either on TV or even better if I can see it live.
In my professional life I am an Infrastructure Technician (a professional geek) and work for a national delivery company, I also manage a team of IT technicians. I have worked in the IT sector for nearly 30 years and still love the challenges that it presents as technology evolves and hope to be able to utilise my skills in my new role on the MUDSA committee.”
I’m sure you’ll agree that Woody can bring plenty to the table.
We also have Steven Duckett (Photo on the right) who says “I’m a Man United fan through and through since as long as I can remember, dad took me to games when I was little during Sir Alex’s reign. I attended my first final in person this year in Bilbao for the Europa League final with my best mate, fantastic road trip across Spain despite the unfortunate result.
Favourite player is Bruno Fernandes, the magic man of our midfield and we’d be lost without him. Another is Cunha who’s fast becoming a favourite for his fancy footwork and great vision for passes and attacking playmaking.
My background is in IT including Cyber security with the Police and I look forward to helping MUDSA in my new role.”
Both members will be on an initial trial as we bed them in but there’s no doubt we’ve found two excellent people for the roles and look forward to working with them.
