MUDSA originates from the very first disabled supporters’ Christmas Party, way back in 1989! Back then, it was the only disabled supporters’ organisation of its kind and our thanks must go to Lyn Laffin, PA to Sir Alex, for helping us along the road to where we are today.
Needless to say, the Christmas Party for our disabled supporters has become a regular feature and is probably one of the most over-subscribed events on the MUDSA calendar.
This event takes place in the International Lounge where we can accommodate approximately 110 people each year. The main feature of the party is the First Team Squad coming down to share the festivities with us – one of the very few occasions when supporters can actually meet their idols face to face, have photographs taken and their souvenirs signed! The party usually takes place around lunchtime, just after the players have finished training, so we arrange to have lunch/brunch before they arrive. The players circulate round the room for about an hour and, occasionally, the manager will come down and join us just to add the cherry on top.
MUDSA Committee members Ann-Marie and Chas organise the front and back of house, respectively, and because of high demand, the applications are filtered scrupulously to ensure fair play, so those that don’t make it one year, move higher up the list for the following year. At present, it works out that members will get a turn every four years and we do encourage you to register your interest as soon as you become a member with Ann-Marie by clicking here.
To attend the MUDSA Christmas Party you must apply EVERY YEAR so that you stay on the waiting list!
This is due to the huge popularity of the event and the desire from ALL MUDSA Members to meet their Manchester United heroes.
Numbers are strictly limited but as it stands, if you apply every year, you will get to attend the Party every fourth year.
